Are we really "all macaques"?

Are we really "all macaques"?

It would have been nice and altruistic, without these two things.

The first is that we, black and mestizo, macaques are not and do not like to be called so. Treat a person with dark skin macaque,
This is one of the most banal and cruel insults. This places the black subordinate position compared to white, referring to an animal which, despite its resemblance to human beings, remains a little below the ladder of evolution. It's heavy and full of innuendo, unlike "Negro" for example, which refers only to skin color.

Admit that "we are all monkeys" is a wrong and dangerous means of resistance. Wrong because no racist calls not question the fact that all men are primates. Dangerous because it suggests the implicit meaning that we are all equal, but to confront racism, it is best to bring out the differences.

The other problem is that the movement "We are all monkeys" was not so spontaneous. In fact, the reaction of Neymar had already been provided for an advertising agency. Until then, nothing exceptional since the attacks are so common that it is not surprising to prepare a response in advance.

But today Luciano Huck brand is selling T-shirt in connection with the movement. With an illustration referring to the well-known banana Andy Warhol, it is sold to 69 reais. Advertising displays a couple of white mannequins.

Daniel Alves protested spontaneously and impertinence. Its action can already be considered a milestone in the fight against racism in football. But that does not mean that we should shrug face racism and that the best outcome is to ignore the offense. He did his best at that time, in the game and just before shooting a corner.

In the international press and we talked about it the problem of racism has returned to the agenda without any need for artificial hashtags or celebrities trying to angry countenance on Instagram.

Then comes the marketing year, together with an opportunistic jersey, without seeking more sophisticated questions about race. All very superficial, at the speed of social networks, not holding to deeper issues such as the defense of racial quotas or why there are more blacks die of violent causes than white.

Perhaps because, as they say, "we are all monkeys", that is to say, equal, and racism is a thing of idiots who are out there on the other side of the world .
